Yet Another Update

Im not too sure about using bump maps on these as it pulls away from the strictly painterly feel of the rest of the game.  We may just want to paint them so it looks the way you want.

Some of these have a slight bump and others show what it looks like without.

Arena Update

I used some of Lin's paintints as previs cards.  I plan to bring these rocks into mudbox today to make them awesome and I might have a physical update before 6:30.  If not, I'm going to have the modeling done before next wednesday and maybe a first pass at painting too.

Centipede Arena Update

Here is the update on the new model:








And finally here is the scale comparison to the former arena.  I have already tested it and the size feels MUCH better.  However, it's still almost too big still.  


I feel the centipede needs to be programmed to come up from under the player by default and also to increase its size.  I don't like how all these bosses are pretty much player height.  They are bosses.  Think huge like bosses in Demons Souls and Dark Souls.  

The game would also benefit from having the camera closer to the player so he fills a bit more of the screen.
(oh by the way, the camera is a little weird with the new size of the arena.  The walls will disappear and disorient the player and all that so they will need fixed when the arena is converted to the new model.  Just to let you know. 

On a FINAL note.  The music is so boring ><  It doesn't feel like an intense boss fight and the music doesn't get more intense when the boss enters its final phases and gets more powerful.  I just don't think it fits at all.  We should consider a new score >>

It seems as though we have not yet fully solidified an idea for the arena, so I haven't spent a whole lot of time making a detailed model.  I have, however, thrown together something to help with a preview.  Of course, this would be modeled better in the end and would look a lot more destroyed, but this is the idea:

Boss Arena Title 30%

After reviewing the Style Guide I felt it was appropriate to move away from the illuminated manuscript style.   Since this is the main logo I want to it to be recognizable, so simplifying the logo with not so much information (bright colors and intricate line work) going on was my goal.  I am also still trying to figure out a background for the logo like a scroll, map, or something.  Feedback is greatly appreciated. (this is not final)

Centipede Arena Size Comp.

I am currently working on the new model for the centipede boss arena.  However, before I get too far I'd like to get some feedback on size.  So I went ahead and used the old models to make a mock up of the size I am going to be aiming for (though the shape might be different).


The cylinder in the middle would be the character size while the horizontal cylinders should be around the centipede size.  This is just to give you an idea of the arena itself.  The health pots would now be much closer and easier to access as a player, and yet more dangerous to go after seeing as the centipede can now get near the walls (to potentially help make use of the program that allows it to sprout from the walls and give the player more to learn and adapt to during the boss fight).  

I believe a this size will make the boss fight more intense.  Though if we wanted to go a different direction and increase the size of the centipedes themselves we might want to make a larger arena instead.  Let me know so I can make the changes in the new model :)
